About

I am a proud member of the United Musicians and Allied Workers Union because i believe that music and art is and has always been the most important element of human history and societal development. Our world as it is today commodifies art, valuing it only as content to be sold and consumed, with big tech corporations piggybacking statistic gathering tools and AI and such so that more useless products can be marketed to us. This pattern of thinking is literally killing the planet. Because of unrestricted corporations endlessly gorging themselves on the false god of "profit", we over-consume items and products that don't bring lasting happiness, only for them to end up in the ecosystems that we and all life depend on for food and nutrients. we poison ourselves in the name of money, which is clearly fucking stupid. we must change the system entirely into one that brings benefit to ALL peoples.

Please, if you are or aren’t a musician, and you see the importance and true value of music and the labor that is involved with making it, take a moment to visit the UMAW website and take action. Anything helps, even just educating yourself on the issues and engaging in dialog with others!

SHORT BIO

anyways: i like to make music and experience stuff and make music about it and experience the magical, mystical and mundane. probably not unlike you in some way. im fixated on creating music and space that sometimes has a narrative, sometimes not, sometimes it might just not be a narrative that can make any goddamn sense! all in good fun though. i've made some videos and short films and occasionally will attempt to make new ones. i've been making music since 2004 but the most formative important years for me have been 2009 through today. i have (regrettably) been working with the delaware dan lawfirm since 2010. thank you for checking it out. i sincerely wish you happiness supreme.

LONG VERSION:

I grew up in Wilmington Delaware halfway between Philadelphia and Baltimore during the era of dial-up internet. As a youngster I felt disconnected from anything that wasn't in a ten mile radius of my life activities, which at the time was mostly school. I went to a public arts magnet school named after the legendary Cab Calloway and got to spend time with a diverse group of people, expanding my compassion and learning as I gained technical skills in vocal performance and film. During that time I picked up guitar and piano and relied heavily on learning songs from friends who were more proficient in learning our favorite Incubus, Weezer, Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin songs. I lived up the street from a venue called 'the Grange' and got to smoke weed with the Fall of Troy there. The first band I played in was called Lazy Edwards with my friend Kian Sorouri and we were terrible but we had fun. Matt Dedonato and Justin Muzzi were also in that band and we had a synchronized guitar dance to our cover of 'Brain Stew'. We got booed off the stage at the open mic at Kahunaville by a bunch of drunk bikers in 2004. I worked on music more intimately with Kian and our love of interesting and different music exploded, especially once we started to explore the expansive catalogs (even back in 2006) of Black Dice and Animal Collective. Another best friend was Andi Scotti, who to this day collaborated with me in Tendrills. We used to get into all sorts of shit with our friends Taylor Hagerty and Dave McGrory; mostly trouble. Our buddy Stoops also shared internet digs of interesting music and we all conspired to push our personal envelopes of music-making, even while arguing ala 'Bottle Rocket' over purchasing grams of headies and how to split the cost. I shipped off to college at the now-defunct University of the Arts in Philly, and for all intents and purposes absolutely received my Bachelors of Science in Screenwriting (just go with it). During that time I discovered the magic of DIY shows and held a few in the basement of a house me and some classmates rented on Ellsworth St. I left philly. Moving back to Delaware I became involved with hosting house shows and was part of a group called 'Delaweird', which despite what he says was started by Mike Haley (Tabs Out) so that he didn't have to book the Final Friday noise shows. Mike booked me on a show with Id M Thfft Able at 700 Socialist Club in Wilmington, which was the first real noise show I played. I then played the first Final Friday (weird sentence) in 2009 and booked those shows up until 2012. We moved show spaces from a gutted house on 7th street in Wilmington to the Newark Bike Project with the help of Sean Stellfox. I befriended Terry Turtle and Billy of Buck Gooter around that time. I also was last minute added to a show at a house called Sprinkle Kingdom in west Philly in 2010 which turned out to be the first ever Guerilla Toss tour. Travelling with them was someone who was destined to change my life forever: Frank Hurricane. We hit it off immediately. He played at my house on skid row in Newark Delaware the following month with Adam Foam in a bonkers acapella noise duo called KNIGHT HOWLS. My time living in Newark was spent with the improv comedy kids, namely Katie Dill (dear friend, clown and amazing musician), as well as Alise Morales, Eric Sweder and Ned Redmond. (Ben Warheit never seemed to like me but I'm still of fan of his, esp when he gets his brains blown out in 'Joker'). My Newark era was plagued by a combination of adderall and the original formula of Four Loko, and I was probably a dick to a lot of people. I am truly sorry, especially to Andrew from Weeded Out (both of them). I befriended another life-altering human, Brian Waterman, during this time. We spent time in the woods and such and were associated with an individual affectionately known as 'Cabesa' but after he 'unveiled' an alleged alien plot to invade earth via massive orgy we kinda started to distance ourselves from him. Brian and I shared much music and art together, jamming and recording all sorts of madness. Me and my gf at the time Britta performed as 'Lettuce Park' around Delaware and Philly. Dan Loose and probably Rini exposed themselves at an event at Kelly's in Logan Square during the final Lettuce Park show. I played in an improvised noise group called Hex-I-Am with Angie and Grog. Me and Andi started Tendrills around that time (2011). I moved to Baltimore in 2013. I grew up quickly there, in bmore, for mother Baltimore does not abide pretense and falsehood. Plake 64 and the Hexagrams started in bmore then as Tendrills flourished. I worked at Club K, the Crown, OK Natural Foods, Golden West Cafe, then Mom's Organic Market, while seasonally working for a parking lot company called M & M Event Management with my cousin Liz and her boo Santo. The Parking Lot Saga will one day be enshrined into an entire book. I made fast friends with my deep homies Lucas Rambo and Jordan Romero. I met Esha then and we had a shitty relationship but made some incredible music under the name Small Axe (or Small_axe). Despite our joke at the time we did not meet on Tindr, but in fact Soundcloud. I lived in several houses with Stone Filipczak and we would hike and skip stones and jam and kinda argue sometimes but there was love the whole time. Also in my life then was Zoie Reamer and her sister Gabby. My roommate Steve dated Gabby and they eventually married. Mikey Powers and Shane McCord were hanging around then too, Shane played in a band with Isabella Pitman called Blud. Mikey has always had the voice of an angel. I worked with Mikey for two weeks at a landscaping company which I was not cut out for but we became close then. Ben Starkey and I became friends after teaming up to book my old acquaintance Skot aka Id M Theft Able at Soup's On during the High Zero fest which pissed them off. I would wear flip flops a lot. We moved in with Ben and would get drunk at a house we lived at with Rosie Jordan and Stone called 'the Firm' (dual reference to a Panda Bear short film called 'Fecal Matters' and the fact that our rent was so cheap because a lawyer had been murdered there and was in the papers- my room was the room where that happened- see 'Delaware Dan Lawfirm' for more info). William Moore was part of our gaggle and performed with me in Plake 64 for several years. I booked shows at the True Vine Record shop and helped Zoie get a start in performing as Superflower. Mikey also played those shows. I became close with Paco Cathcart during that time because they was always coming to town in a different band that I booked (SBJ, Climax Landers, the Cradle, eyes of love, etc) I lived in Hampden prior to that up the street from Zoie and used to give her guitar lessons in exchange for rides to work at OK Natural. Esha and I broke up and she moved away to NYC. I was part of a free music collective with April Camlin, Lucas, Jordan, Eric, Miles, and others called REST around this time. We played shows with MEMS in those days. I met Sam around then (2019) and we started dating and are now married. Me and Sam moved to St Pete florida in 2020 on accident, we couldn't get out of a housing situation. Sam's mom was to move with us but didn't (RIP). We lived in Florida for 3 years. I befriend Noel Colon, Joseph Pica and Chance Reynolds. The kids there didn't fuck w me for some reason. Then my cousin Jonny died which fucked me up. But I lived near the gulf of Mexico so that helped. I became closer with Suzie Doogan whom until then was an acquaintance from bmore but spending time in Florida they'd come and visit me and Sam and we got close. Paco would tag along while visiting family in florida as well. I met Maggie and Kenny then who are amazing people. Also shoutout my deep homies Alyx Lesson, David 'chaos emperor dragon' Wylie, Ant-money, Ben and Anakin; love to all my kitchen broskis and sibs. Me and Sam got into a car accident on our honeymoon / hot dog / tour called the great American hot dog tour 2023 and I broke my Penis (***PELVIS) and couldn't work at the restaurant. I called into tim heidecker's show OHL and the fans helped by throwing money at our GoFundMe (thank you TIM). We moved to Vermont because sam's dad took us in and we eventually started working again and then we somehow able to open a bar after coming into some money. My friend Brian died and then shortly after my godfather Uncle Jon then died. I took refuge vows from afar with HE Garchen Rinpoche in 2019 and am an ati-yoga student of Lama Justin von Budjoss. I try to be a good person because I failed to do so in the past more than once.
